This spring doesn’t only bring longer and warmer days, it also brings a brand-new release from Salesforce! Get ready to use an auto launched flow, because Salesforce has now made it super easy to debug your flows. What does that mean? Well, for one thing, it means that now you can do even more automation than before, without writing a line of code – and even inexperienced users can be guided through the process of making a new flow.
Let’s break it down
Perhaps you are familiar with the Salesforce Lightning Flow? Basically, the Lightning Flow suite of features is now called Salesforce Flow. This incorporates a set of other Salesforce automation features, such as Process Builder & Flow. Pretty soon, Flow will be the only tool that a functional Admin uses to create Salesforce automation.
But, what does it do?
Lots of things! First of all, Salesforce flow now has the ability for time-based flow actions to be set. This is really cool because now you can automate some sales processes like “1 week after the lead is created in Salesforce, send them an email requesting a meeting”.
Another new feature is the record-triggered flow that can now access prior values of the record. This means that once you change a field value, the flow can act on the new field value, and the original field value. Use it to, for example, notify the Opportunity Team when an opportunity’s amount changes by 30% or more. Pretty cool! You could also then determine the percentage of the change on the actual sold opportunity amount, and the amount you expected to sell for when you first approached the deal.
What’s not to like!
All in all, with the new release, automation can increase both adoption and data quality, meaning you are now able to run even more automations to update data in Salesforce so that:
1) Users don’t have to enter as much data manually, saving time/increasing adoption and preventing human error on data entry
2) Data quality increases as automations fill the data on all records and from a predetermined function so no human error on data entry and no records missing important data.
Seriously, what’s not to like about this update? Want to know more about this update or anything else about Salesforce? Do not hesitate to reach out!
Looking forward to hearing from you.
